Andrus comes to CSA after working with Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association.. Andrus played college soccer at Virginia Wesleyan College and after graduating was the JV and Assistant coach at Courtland High School in Fredericksburg, VA.
Belamy joined CSA with 8 years of club coaching experience. Belamy, a native of England, came to the United States and worked in Georgia with Atlanta Fire United where he worked with the US Academy program and also was the director of Goalkeepers. Belamy has joined the staff at CSA to work with the boys side of the club.
Boggess joined the staff at CSA with 20 years of coaching experience. A former player at Wingate University, Boggess has coached at the club level as well as a high school coach for Lake Norman Charter. Boggess currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, Goalkeeper level 1 and USSF ‘D’ Licenses.
Brabson joined CSA with a vast amount of coaching and playing experience. A 4-year starter at Maryville College, Brabson then played semi-professional for the Chattanooga Express and Clarksville Gunners. In 2000, Brabson became the head coach at Queens University before moving to Winthrop University where is currently the assistant coach of the womens program. The current Head Coach of South Carolina ODP, Brabson currently holds his NSCAA National, Advanced National and Premier Diploma and the USSF ‘D’ License
Burger has been coaching club soccer since 2009 in the Charlotte Area. Beginning with South Charlotte Soccer Association, he has stayed at the club throughout the merger to Charlotte Soccer Academy with experience coaching the U9/U10 Academy to the U13 and U14 Boys of the club.
Joseph Calandra - CSA- Matthews
Calandra has experience with both club and college soccer. An Assistant coach with Wingate University Men’s soccer from 2012 to present, Calandra has also been the goalkeeper coach for Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC) since 2007. Calandra currently holds his USSF B License.
Cook came to CSA from Charlotte Soccer Club. An England native, Cook played soccer for Newport FC as well as coaching for the University of Portsmouth. Cook came to the U.S. working with Challenger Sports and has had experience coaching in Atlanta, GA prior to his move to Charlotte Soccer Club.
Cullen, a native of London, England, has coached Catawba College for the past 8 years, winning a pair of South Atlantic Conference championships and taking the Indians to four NCAA Division 2 Regionals and 2 regional finals. He was a four-time SAC Coach of the Year and was named NSCAA Regional Coach of the year in 2005 after leading the Indians to a 16-4-1 record that included a regular-season title in the South Atlantic Conference and a trip to the NCAA Regional Final.
In eight years at Catawba, Cullen posted a 113-33-16 record. He coached a pair of All-Americans, an academic All-American, 2 SAC players of the year, 18 All-Region selections and 32 All-Conference players at Catawba.
In addition to his collegiate resume, Cullen boasts strong ties at the Olympic Development level. Cullen served as Assistant Director of Coaching at the Charlotte Soccer Club from 1992-2001. In 2001, he began working with the North Carolina Olympic Development program and joined the US Region III ODP staff in 2006. Overall, Cullen posted a 46-4 record with the NC ODP program including an unbeaten, unscored upon slate in 16 games with the ‘90’s NC ODP team. During the summer of 2010, Cullen and assistant coach Sarah Denton guided the North Carolina ODP ’95 team to the Regional Championships in Montevalloa, Alabama. The team will represented Region III in the National Championships in February 2011.
For three years, Cullen served as Executive Director of Soccer with the FC Carolina Alliance in Concord, NC.
Dalton came to Charlotte Soccer Academy with an impressive playing and coaching career. A native of England, Dalton played professionally for Manchester City, Coventry City, Stockport County and Macclesfield Town of England as well as Trollhatten IF of Sweden. After a career in the semi professional ranks in England, Dalton concentrated on coaching, working as an assistant coach of the Cayman Islands National team and was the director of the youth program for the Islands too. Most recently, Dalton was the Director of Operations and Director of Coaching for Charlotte United Football Club. Dalton is a State ODP coach as well as an NSCAA State tutor. Dalton currently owns all top coaching licenses with his UEFA ‘A’, NSCAA Premier and USSF ‘A’.
Denton is entering his 7th year at Pfeiffer, third as the head coach of the women’s program. Born in Bristol, Virginia Denton grew up in Durham, NC and received his degree at UNCG.
At Covenant Classical School, Denton coached the men and women’s varsity soccer. He has also coached club soccer for FC Carolina Alliance and currently works with the NC Olympic Development team.
Draper, a native of England, came to CSA with over 10 years of coaching experience, most recently working with Matthews Soccer Club. A current coach for Porter Ridge High School, Draper currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma.
Farrell joined the CSA coaching staff after an impressive playing career as a 4-year starter at Wake Forest where she was captain for 2 years. Upon graduating, Farrell was drafted by the Philadelphia Independence as the 11th overall pick for the Women’s Professional League. After playing for Philadelphia, Farrell continued her professional career playing for FC Twente Futball Club in Holland from 2010 to 2011 where she was also captain of the team.
Farrell’s playing accomplishments were not finished as in 2009 to 2011 she was included in the US-23 Women’s National Team Pool.
After finishing her playing career, Farrell started coaching for the Lee County Strikers, Fort Myers, FL before moving to Charlotte to join CSA.
Fox was a 4 year starter at UNCC after spending her club career locally for Charlotte Soccer Club. After graduating, Fox coached for FC Carolina Alliance then moved to Charlotte United before joining CSA.
Frelin came to CSA with 19 years of coaching experience. She has experience at the regional ODP, State ODP, and Division 1 college and club levels. Prior to joining CSA, Frelin was in Houston, Texas as an assistant Competitive Director and Academy Director. Frelin currently holds a USSF A license and a USSF National Youth License. Frelin is also involved in coaching education with the USSF.
Forland was a four-year starter with the Houghton College Women’s Soccer Team. After college, she was the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at the University of Great Falls in Montana. Moving to Charlotte, Forland had experience with the Charlotte Lady Eagles and came to CSA holding her USSF ‘D’, ‘E’ and Goalkeeping Certificates.
Gladu hails from Burlington, Vermont and played at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Paul has coached for over 15 years in the Charlotte area. While coaching at Charlotte Catholic, he won several Coach of the Year awards, including Regional Coach of the Year. Gladu coached boys and girls for 10 years at CSC, including three Region III Premier teams. His teams reached the State Cup Final Four a total of 14 times, resulting in 4 finalists, 6 State Championships and one Regional Finalist. During his four year tenure at CUFC, Gladu coached challenge, classic, premier and Region III premier teams. His teams won two City Cup Championships and reached the State Cup Finals.
Goldstein has worked for numerous clubs around the Charlotte area. A former player at Gardner Webb University, Goldstein joined the CSA staff after working with GCCSA in ’09 and recently with Charlotte United. She was also the King’s Mountain High School Women’s Head Coach from 2010 to 2011.
Mark Guercio - CSA-Matthews
Guercio joined CSA with coaching experience at High School and at the club level. Guercio started his High School coaching in 1996 as the Associate Head Women’s coach at Brevard High School. In 2000, Guercio then became the Varsity Head coach at East Mecklenburg High School (Boys) before moving to Queens Grant High School as the boys head coach in 2011 to 2012. In 2012, Guercio moved to club coaching for Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC) working with all age groups and was the girls Director of Coaching in 2013. Guercio currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma and the USSF ‘D’ License.
Andy Guevara - CSA-Matthews
Guevara, a former player at Butler University has been coaching since 1996 at the high school and club level. Starting his coaching at Terre Haute Flyers FC in Indiana, Guevara was also the Assistant Men’s Coach at Terre Haute High School. Moving to South Carolina in 2001, Guevara became the Head Mens’ Coach at Berkeley High School. In 2010, Guevara moved to Charlotte and is currently the Head Mens’ Coach at Independence High School and was a Director of Coaching for Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC). Guevara currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma and USSF D license.
Gunderson was a player at Carthage High School in NY, where he returned to coach after playing at Jefferson Community College and Houghton College. While coaching at Carthage, Gunderson won 3-time Coach of the Year honors and sent many players on to play in college. Gunderson is a member of NSCAA Section III Soccer Coaches Committee.
Rod Jackson - CSA-Matthews
Jackson has 10 years coaching experience around the Charlotte area. Starting at Indian Trail Athletic Association, he spent the last 6 years with Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC). At MUFC, Jackson served as the Youth Academy Director as well as a coach at the classic level. Jackson also coached at the school ranks starting as the Assistant Womens coach at Butler High School to currently being the Mens’ and Womens’ coach at Porter Ridge Middle School. Jackson currently holds his USSF Youth II License.
Kabwe, a native of Zimbabwe, joins the CSA staff with an excellent playing background. Kabwe came to the states to play for Coastal Carolina University. Professionally, Kabwe played for Zimbabwe national team at the U-20, U-23 and Senior levels. After graduating from Coastal Carolina, Kabwe played professionally for the Charlotte Eagles for 2007 and 2008. During this time he also coached for South Charlotte Soccer Association before being signed by the Raleigh Railhawks. Kabwe has returned to play for the Eagles and coach for CSA.
A former player at GCC in NY and also Judson College in Illinois, Kayea then played professionally for the Charlotte Eagles. Kayea is a former director for 2xsalt sports ministry and has worked for many clubs around the Charlotte area in his 12 year coaching career, including many years with CSA.
Ron Ladimir - CSA-Matthews
Ladimir was a former All-American at Wingate University. After college, Ladimir played professionally for the Orlando Sun Dogs before starting his coaching at Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC). Ladimir currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma.
Seth Leonard - CSA-Matthews
Leonard’s coaching experience spans over 13 years working with numerous clubs in North Carolina. Leonard has experience with coaching boys and girls of all ages.
Lovejoy, a native of England, moved to the United States in 1999. Moving to Georgia, Lovejoy started his coaching career with TYSA (Tucker Youth Soccer Association). He stayed with the club for 4 years before moving to Alpharetta, GA and working for Alpharetta Ambush. Lovejoy moved to Charlotte in 2011 and joins CSA currently holding his USSF ‘C’ License.
Luetge, a native of Germany, played regional soccer in Munich, came to CSA with over 8 years of coaching experience in Germany and the Charlotte area, most recently working for East Union Middle School, WCWAA, and Director of Coaching of Monroe Soccer Association. Luetge currently holds his NSCAA Advanced Regional and National Diploma.
Carlos Martinez - CSA-Matthews
Martinez has coached for over 15 years at all levels. As a player, Martinez played in college at USFQ and then followed on playing in Club Liga de Universitaria de Quito. Martinez is currently the coach for Queens Grant High School Varsity Girls’ team.
Miller was born in Chile, South America but moved and grew up in Concord, NC. Miller, a 4 year starter at Methodist College, came to CSA holding his USSF ‘E’ and ‘D’ licenses.
Alex Moreno - CSA-North
Moreno joined the CSA North staff after playing 4 years at Pfeiffer University. At Pfeiffer, Moreno was a 4-year starter and 2-time all-Conference Selection. During the summer, Moreno plays for the Atlanta Silverbacks.
Muniz hails from Houston, Texas where he played for the renowned Houston Texans before committing to Appalachian where he was a four-year starter, team captain, 3-year All Conference player and All-South Region player. During his time at Appalachian, Muniz also played for the Carolina Dynamo before settling down to coach. Muniz went back to Houston to coach for the Houston Texans as a staff coach. Moving back to North Carolina, Muniz became the Technical Director and staff coach for Charlotte United and is currently a Director of Coaching for Happy Feet Charlotte.
Junior Nyemb - CSA-Matthews
Nyemb, a native of Cameroon, West Africa, came to the United States in 2006 on a soccer scholarship for Wingate University where he was a 4 year starter. After graduating, Nyemb worked as the Head Coach for the women’s program at Butler High School. Nyemb then transitioned to club soccer working at Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club (MUFC).
O’Leary has been coaching youth soccer for almost 20 years. He has been ever-present starting with South Charlotte Soccer Association then into the transition to Charlotte Soccer Academy coaching on the boys side of the club. O’Leary currently holds his NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma.
Patterson camw to CSA from Lake Norman Soccer Club where he was Director of Coaching for the girls from 2005 to 2007. As a player, Patterson was a 4-year starter at Lees-McRae University. Patterson currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma.
Pierce brings to the club 15 years of coaching experience with Matthews Soccer Club, Cabarrus Soccer Association and FCCA. Pierce also has worked with different Middle Schools and High Schools. Pierce currently holds his USSF ‘C’ License.
Pigza came to Charlotte Soccer Academy with a good playing and coaching experience. Pigza attended UNC Chapel Hill, where she played on the 1983 National Championship team. She has been a teacher and head coach at the Middle school, Jr. High and Varsity High School levels in South Fla. Pigza was a staff coach for South Florida Select Soccer Programs and helped with the Florida ODP. After Florida, Pigza was in charge of Coaching education and training and ran her own soccer camps at Tupelo, MS Parks and Rec. Locally, Pigza has coached at Charlotte Soccer Club and South Charlotte Soccer ages U-8 to U-16 for the past 6 years and currently holds a USSF National "C" License.
Rex is a returning coach for the U9/U10 Academy. Rex played four years with UNCC and also had professional playing experience with the Carolina Dynamo. Rex currently holds her USSF ‘E’ and ‘D’ Licenses and is also a NC ODP Assistant coach.
Tiffany (Tisdale) Rice
Rice is a graduate of Ohio State University, where she was a four-year player and won numerous honors and awards. She played for both the Charlotte Speed and Charlotte Lady Eagles for a total of 9 years. During that time, Rice coached numerous Charlotte youth teams; several NC ODP teams; and was an assistant coach of the Davidson women’s team. Rice is currently an assistant coach with the Charlotte Lady Eagles and holds an NSCAA National Diploma.
Sapia came to CSA with playing experience at various levels in England. As a coach, he has been able to coach across the world with opportunities in England, Australia and the USA. Sapia has worked at all ages from grass roots to the academy level and most recently was part of the A.C. Milan coaching staff in conjunction with the Football Development Australia and working with coaches from Fulham FC, England. Sapia currently holds his English FA level 1 and 2 licenses.
Sellers has been coaching girls’ soccer in the Charlotte area for over 10 years. Sellers began his coaching career as a recreation coach for AYSO Region 605. In 2003, he joined North Mecklenburg Youth Soccer Association (NMYSA), where he coached at the Challenge level for two and one half years. In 2005, Sellers coached a team to win the State Cup Challenge Championship. In the fall of 2005, he joined Futbol Club Carolina Alliance (FCCA). At FCCA, Sellers coached multiple girls’ teams at all levels including: Classic B, Classic A and Premier. In 2006, he coached a team to win the NC State Presidents Cup Championship. Sellers also coached the girls’ soccer team at Harris Road Middle School for two years, winning the county Championship in 2006 and again in 2007. Sellers has several AYSO youth coaching certifications and has completed the Safe Haven Coach course. In addition, he has completed the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “E” and “D” license.
Born and raised in Ireland, Silke has been either playing or coaching soccer for more than 25 years. Silke began his coaching career while playing soccer in High School and then continued to be the player/coach for the National University of Ireland, Galway. In 1997, Silke moved to Tampa FL, where he coached youth soccer for New Tampa Soccer Association as well as becoming the head coach for Benito Middle School. While coaching in Tampa, he took his NTSA team to the semi-finals of Region C two years running and went undefeated in the Middle School league. Mark and his family moved to Charlotte in 1999 and he was one of the first coaches for the newly formed SCSA. Among many of Silke’s successes are a State Cup Finalist team (2001) and semi-finalist team (2000).Silke’s qualifications include Football Association of Ireland Level 1 Youth Coach Certificate, the NSCAA Regional and Advanced Regional Diploma and the NCYSA D state license.
Jason Smith - CSA-North
Smith begins his first season as head coach of the Pfeiffer men’s soccer program. Coming to Pfeiffer, Smith brings an extensive soccer background including a 4-year stint with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the United Soccer League (USL). During his tenure as head coach and general manager with the Silverbacks, Smith led the way for Atlanta setting numerous franchise records with a runner-up finish in the USL’s first division in 2007. Under Smith, the Silverbacks became a national contender on the pitch and the most prolific offensive team in the league. As general manager, Smith also handled player recruitment and contract negotiations for the franchise.
Smith brings extensive collegiate coaching experience to Pfeiffer. He spent 12 season as men’s and women’s head coach at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. Racking up 275 wins at Piedmont, Smith led the Lions to 3 South Region Championships and 11 Conference titles.
Spangler has coached with CSA for over 5 years. Aside from his duties on the club side, Spangler also has experience coaching at the school level working with both boys and girls at Charlotte Country Day.
Summers has 22 years playing experience as well as 11 years coaching experience working with players aged from 2 years old to adult semi-pro. Summers has worked 6 years in America including New York, Connecticut and now 4 years in Charlotte. Summers currently holds his UEFA Level 1 and 2 licenses.
Peter Trask - CSA-Matthews
Trask was the Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club Goalkeeper coach and is the Assistant Director of Goalkeeping for the Wingate International Soccer Academy. Trask started his coaching career in Upstate NY in 2007, working with One Plus Goalkeeping Academy before moving to Charlotte.
Juan Vazquez - CSA-North
Vazquez is a former Semi-Professional player in Mexico and California and joined the CSA North coaching staff. Vazquez started coaching at AYSO in California and attended the CAL-SOUTH ‘E’ and National ‘D’ licenses. Vasquez was a game coach at Celtic Soccer Club before moving to NC in 2008 where was part of the FCCA coaching staff. Vasquez currently holds the US Soccer Federation ‘C’ License.
Jack Vundum - CSA-Matthews
Vundum was a 4-year starter at Wingate University and was selected to All-Conference teams during his time as a player. A former player for West Virginia Chaos (PDL), Vundum coached classic boys and girls for MUFC. An England native, Vundum currently holds his Football Association (F.A.) level 1 and 2 badges.
Nathan Wade - CSA-North
Wade joined the CSA coaching staff with experience at the club and high school level. A native of Chicago, Wade played at Northland International University in Northern Wisconsin graduating in 2010. Moving to Charlotte, Wade was the Executive Director for Waxhaw Soccer Club from 2011 to 2012 as well as the head coach of Cuthbertson High School Womens’ team where they made it to the State Championship game finishing with a 20-5-1 record the spring of 2012. Wade currently holds the NSCAA Regional and Advanced Regional Diplomas and also the USSF ’C’ License.
Walker came to Charlotte Soccer Academy from Charlotte Soccer Club. Prior to coaching, Walker was a 4-year starter at Xavier University and also team captain. After college, Walker started his coaching career in Cincinnati working with all age groups and became head coach for the Cincinnati Cheetahs, a professional USL-W league team. While coaching at Charlotte Soccer Club, Walker has also worked at the Coerver Soccer Schools.
Walters has over 17 years of coaching experience attached to his resume. As a high School coach, Walters has worked with Tri-City Christian School, Statesville Christian School, United Faith Christian School and Newton-Conover High School where they were the 2007 AA State Champions. In 2009, Walters was the 2009 NCISA Region 2 coach of the year. As a club coach Walters has worked with CVYSA, YCVSC, Charlotte United and Charlotte Soccer Club in his 17 year span. Walters currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma and USSF D license.
