Cabarrus Fall 09 Wrap-up

Club Spotlight

CSA North Charlotte and Cabarrus

We started this program this year with tryouts in May in Concord. Our director of Coaching for this section of the club is Erik Imler who came to CSA from Belmont Abbey College where he was the women’s head soccer coach. Coach Imler is a former MLS player with DC United and New England Revolution and co founder of Boot room soccer school.

In our 1st year we created a total of nine teams. Seven of them started this fall and below is a brief overview from coach Imler of their 1st season as new teams under the CSA umbrella.

CSA Cabarrus Fall Teams

U9B…CSA U9 Cabarrus Elite improved every game this year, which was the main goal this fall. It has become a great learning experience for the team. The spring has nothing but upside for the players after all the improvement that has taken place.

U10…From beginning to end the season was a successful one, although the results did not come our way our team over came adversity and challenges with just enough players to form a team.  The players of the U-10 Cabarrus boys team have given a good account of themselves every game played showing that they have heart, determination and the drive to make what could have been a tough situation, a very positive one.

U11B… They played in a friendly tournament the beginning of the year and went 1-2. In regular season play, they finished 3-3-1 overall and will finish 4th overall in an 8 team league. The boys improved immensely over the course of the season.

U11G…The U11 Cabarrus Elite Girls (true U10) finished the NC Fall Classic season at the top of their division (7-0).  Also, they were undefeated (8-0) in their first two tournaments, winning the 2009 Charlotte Invitational U11 Silver Division and the top U11 division of the Carolina Cup in Columbia, SC..

U12B…. The start of the 2009 spring season was rough, but throughout the second half of the season we have made huge steps in the right direction. As individuals they are technically and tactically improving. As a team they are beginning to play as one unit.

U13B…"The U13 Cabarrus Elite Boys’ inaugural campaign was a successful one...After winning both the HFC & Columbia United Tournaments, they went on to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the Classic Division.

U14B… The U14 Cabarrus Elite Boys showed great improvement throughout the fall and finished the season playing attractive soccer, earning some rewarding results and finishing in the middle of the league standings.

In the spring the two older boy’s teams kick off U15 and U17 and we are looking at starting another U9 team to play in the Charlotte Challenge league. We are very excited about the future of this program and we would like to thank Scott Wagner and the Overcash soccer complex off Hway 73 who helped us put the program together. All of our teams play and train at Overcash, a great game and practice facility conveniently located in the heart of Concord.
