Ken comes to us with a wealth of soccer experience having worked with BMW Sports and establishing an English based sports apparel business for 5 years prior to joining BMW Sports. Ken’s duties will include overseeing the day to day operations of the club office including sprirtwear and apparel sales as we expand our club shop, assisting in accounts receivables and payables and serving as a point person for questions and answers on the club programs and activities. The club office will now be open each day Monday through Friday 9am – 5pm. Patti will still be heavily involved with the club overseeing our club registration and website. Ken can be reached at admin@charlottesocceracademy.com or by phone at the club office 704-708-4166.

CPI Flat Branch Fields open this week (rules and regulations of park)
I am pleased to announce that we will open the new CPI fields and Flat Branch Park this week off Tom Short Road next to Polo Ridge Elementary School. Three of the four fields will be open but we plan on staying off the lighted field for one more week as sod was laid 3 weeks ago and it needs another week to be ready. In order for us to maintain our relationships with the school and parks and recreation please observe the following rules and regulations at the park.
1, the main gate that drives to the back of the school where the bus parking lot is will not be open till 6pm, so all cars must be parked at the front of the school in the designated parking area ONLY. There are after school programs that don’t finish till 6pm and the school needs to be concerned with these children crossing the road prior to 6pm. After 6pm cars will be able drive into the school and park around the back but AGAIN ONLY IN DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS.
2, parking for parents must be in specified parking areas ONLY. You will be ticketed if you park on street or in an unmarked parking area.
3, this is a trash free park and we want to keep these fields in the best shape possible, please remove all trash after each session and place them in trash bins or take it with you.
US Club Soccer for older boys Fall 2009.
Boys U15-U18 not playing high school this fall season but want to get ahead of the game before the club season begins can sign up and play US Club Soccer this fall. We are putting a team together to start practicing in September and participate in a tournament during October. The age of the team will be determined by the interest. Information on the program is posted on our website this week. If you need additional information, please contact Jim Finnerty our U15-U18 boy’s director at jfinnerty@charlottesocceracademy.com
Attire/apparel at practice.
There have been a lot of questions that have come up concerning what our players wear at practices and games. We do want all our teams to train in either the new adidas training tops that can be purchased through the club office or our club t-shirts. Each team has or will be receiving one free adidas t-shirt this fall for training (additional shirts are also available for sale at the office). As far as shorts, socks and shoes, our preferred brand to wear is adidas and we encourage our players to wear their game shorts if possible but it’s not mandatory to be completely outfitted. If you are purchasing more shorts, socks or shoes, we do encourage adidas product and we hope you will take advantage of the special shoe deals we have established with adidas and Eurosport off our website.
Fundraiser for teams.
The club has established new fundraisers this fall to help each team raise money for its team for either warm ups, tournament travel or just some extra money for each player. We have two fundraising books that are available with which each one sold ½ the money gets given back to player. Additional info is attached to the update and is on our website. The team managers have been provided with information about these programs. Any questions please direct them to John Bretz CSA’s marketing director john.bretz@assurant.com
Chick-fil-A night Fundraiser for the Elite National Girls Team - September 22nd.
Our top ladies teams in the club are raising money to help with their travel across the country for the various tournaments they have to attend through the year. They will be hosting the 1st Chick-fil-A Night Fundraiser on September 22 from 4pm to 10pm at the Chick-fil-A at the Arboretum ~ 3217 Pineville-Matthews Rd. Charlotte, NC 28226. All money made will help off some of the extra costs for the ECNL travel/tournaments. We encourage all teams to attend! Parents can take the night off from cooking and come out to help support their fellow club members!! Any questions please email Vickie Engelhaupt vickie.engelhaupt@crucible.com
Communication. The key to a successful club.
This will be on all my updates. Good communication is the key to as successful club. All families in the club should have the accessibility to communicate with your team coach and DOC throughout the season. Our coaches are reminded to have periodic meetings through the season to keep families up to date on the progression of the team. All the DOC’s email addresses are on the website if you need to communicate with us. If you need to talk in person, we are in the office each day and if you do not reach us directly, we will return a call in a timely fashion to address any questions or concerns. We have a fantastic full time staff here at CSA and some great team coaches. If you have any issues with your team, club etc please do not allow a problem to persist. Communicate with the staff so we can deal with it and move on in a positive way.
Thanks
Have a great week
Brad
