Happy New Year
On behalf of everyone at CSA, I want to wish all our members a Happy New Year and hope you all had a nice holiday season and are ready to get back into full swing as our spring season is upon us.
Practice Schedule Posted
The spring practice schedule has now been posted on our website. All U11-U18 teams will begin practice this upcoming week. The U9-U10 program will not begin until the week of February 1st. We have moved some teams around to accommodate Coaches/DOC schedules and to try to give teams some added field space this spring. We will still be a little tight through February on some nights but when daylight savings time kicks in, and we have access to the other 3 fields at CPI (Flat Branch), we will be able to give more teams even more space for their sessions.
England Tour Summer 2010: boys/girls places till open
We will be looking to send a boys and girls team to England this summer on tour in July.We do still have spaces available for any other players and/or families interested in this opportunity. It will be 8 days in July and will include various sightseeing in London and 4 games vs. some international teams. The tour is catered to players between U13 and U15.If you are interested and require any additional information, please email me bwylde@charlottesocceracademy.com

Katie is a member of the 94 Predator team who went 3-1 over a four game weekend at one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country. This is a great honor for Katie to be recognized as one of the top 94 players in the National League for this event.Congrats!
Preseason Tournament Reminders
Managers, please make sure you get your team applications in to the preseason events that have been assigned to your team to attend through January and February. We have made some adjustments to the tournament list on the website to make sure we give each team a positive start to the spring season with some competitive games. If you have any questions on the tournaments, please direct them to your DOC.
Volunteers for Adidas Cup
CSA will be hosting its preseason tournament the weekend of Feb 6th – 7th.We are looking for volunteers to help us make this event a success this year.If you are interested in helping the club over the weekend or being a part of one of our committees, please contact Dan Dudley ddudley@charlottesocceracademy.com
US DevelopmentAcademy Update
The US Academy is the newest initiative set up by US Soccer to identify the top players in the country and play them together in a formalized league structure. CSA was one of the first 64 clubs in the country (1 of 4 in NC) to be a part of this new league at the U16 and U18 boys level. We now enter our 3rd year in the program and the progression of youth soccer under this new system has been incredible. The league now consists of over 70 clubs and the quality of play throughout the country has been extremely high. This venue has placed our elite players on the map to get some extensive college exposure.
Our teams had back to back games this past weekend. The U16s tied Birmingham Utd 1-1 and beat Atlanta Fire 4-1 while our U18s beat Birmingham Utd 3-1 and Atlanta Fire 2-0.The U16s move to 1-1-1 for the season while the 18s remain unbeaten at 3-0
We have also introduced a U14 pre-academy program for our top 95, 96, 97 birth year players. We have set an 8 game season for this age group vs. U14s from other academy clubs. Our U14s have had an impressive start winning their first two games 5-0 and 8-1.
Next weekend the academy plays at home again vs. Concorde Fire from Atlanta. The U16s will play at 2pm and the U18s at 4pm.The U14s will play an intersquad game also at 2pm.All games will be played at ElonPark.
Ref Certification Course
CSA will sponsor two referee certification sessions in February for anyone interested in becoming a referee or looking for an upgrade.
New Recreation-level Certification (Grade 09) – Sat., Feb. 20th, 9am-6pm. If you have not been certified previously and wish to continue to referee for our recreation program/OP you need to take this course.
Grade 09 Recertification/Upgrade to 08 – Sat., Feb 27th, 9am-6pm. If you currently are a grade 09, this will qualify you to referee Challenge and Classic games. Note you must recertify annually, so even if you wish to referee only at rec/OP, you can take this course to stay current.
Both courses will be at the club office. Space will be capped at 15 max. Cost will be $67. Registration will be open on www.NCSRA.org sometime next week. Please contact Ken at admin@charlottesocceracademy.com if you want to register.
Communication. The key to a successful club.ALWAYS ON UPDATES.
This will be on all my updates. Good communication is the key to a successful club. All families in the club should have access to communicate with your team coach and DOC throughout the season. Our coaches are reminded to have periodic meetings through the season to keep families up to date on the progression of the team.Email addresses for me and all the DOCs are on the website if you need to communicate with us.If you need to talk in person, we are in the office each day and if you do not reach us directly, we will return a call in a timely fashion to address any questions or concerns. We have a fantastic full time staff here at CSA and some great team coaches. If you have any issues with your team, club etc please do not allow a problem to persist. Communicate with the staff so we can deal with it and move on in a positive way.
