ODP/Club schedule conflicts - Club is the priority
We have been having some questions that have come up regarding ODP events that conflict with a club tournament, game etc etc. Being a former ODP coach, I know this used to come up a lot during the ODP events but NCYSA always made it clear to the ODP staff that the club events take the priority over any ODP event. Your son or daughter will not in anyway jeopardize their chances of making the ODP team is they miss a session or an event. If there is a conflict, you have to let NCYSA know you are going to miss the event and the staff take note that the absence is due to a club activity. Please make sure you make the adjustments to your schedule so the club activities are not missed.
New Video Feed on the Website
This week we have launched the new video feed on our website. This is an opportunity to post various photos and videos of players and coaching sessions or training tips that could help our members through the season. The 1st video we have posted is one of our U13 boys (Alec Anselmo) showing some various moves with the ball. If anyone has a video that they would like to post on the website, please submit you request to me at bwylde@charlottesocceracademy.com if we get several requests, I will have the DOC’s vote for the best one to be posted.

US Development Academy Update
The US Academy is the newest initiative set up by US Soccer to identify the top players in the country and play them together in a formalized league structure. CSA was one of the first 64 clubs in the country (1 of 4 in NC) to be a part of this new league at the U16 and U18 boys level. We now enter our 3rd year in the program and the progression of youth soccer under this new system has been incredible. The league now consists of over 70 clubs and the quality of play throughout the country has been extremely high. This venue has placed our elite players on the map to get some extensive college exposure.
Our teams had back to back games this past weekend. The U16s lost to Concorde 2-1 in a tight, exciting game on Saturday but bounced back Sunday with a convincing 6-0 win vs. AFU. The U18s also lost to Concorde 2-0 in a hard fought game but like the 16s bounced back on Sunday winning 2-1. We have also introduced a U14 pre-academy program for our top 95, 96, 97 birth year players. We have set an 8 game season for this age group vs. other academy clubs U14s in between their respective club team seasons. Our U14’s have had an impressive start winning their 1st two games.
Next weekend the academy teams are off but return to action the weekend of Jan 30th – 31st with two games vs. Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers. Times and locations of games will be posted next week.
Parking rules and regulations at CPI fields and other locations
A reminder about the parking requirements at our fields this spring season
CPI Fields at Flat Branch Park (Polo Ridge Elementary School)
1, the main gate that drives to the back of the school where the bus parking lot is will not be open till 6pm, so all cars must be parked at the front of the school in the designated parking area ONLY. There are after school programs that don’t finish till 6pm and the school needs to be concerned with these children crossing the road prior to 6pm. After 6pm, cars will be able to drive into the school and park around the back but AGAIN ONLY IN DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS. Please note that the gates are locked by school personnel before practice ends and you may get locked in!
2, parking for parents must be in specified parking areas ONLY. You will be ticketed if you park on street or in an unmarked parking area.
3, this is a trash free park and we want to keep these fields in the best shape possible, please remove all trash after each session and place them in trash bins or take it with you.
JM Robinson Middle School
A reminder on the parking area in the front of the fields: PLEASE NOTE THIS AREA NOW IS FOR DROP OFF ONLY. If you want to park and wait for your child, parking will be available up at the school. The front parking area is for coaching staff and officials only.
Communication. The key to a successful club. ALWAYS ON UPDATES.
This will be on all my updates. Good communication is the key to a successful club. All families in the club should have the accessibility to communicate with your team coach and DOC throughout the season. Our coaches are reminded to have periodic meetings through the season to keep families up to date on the progression of the team. Emails for the DOCs and me are on the website if you need to communicate with us. If you need to talk in person, we are in the office each day and if you do not reach us directly, we will return a call in a timely fashion to address any questions or concerns. We have a fantastic full time staff here at CSA and some great team coaches. If you have any issues with your team, club etc please do not allow a problem to persist. Communicate with the staff so we can deal with it and move on in a positive way.
