College night April 28th 7pm – 9pm Springhill Suites Ballantyne
CSA will be hosting a college night on Wednesday, April 28th at the Springhill Suites Ballantyne (off Johnston Rd). All high school Sophmores through Seniors are encouraged to attend to help learn more about the collegiate process and the opportunities to become a student athlete playing soccer at the next level. Peter Broadley, former College Coach with High Point University and current National Staff instructor for the NSCAA will be our lead speaker. Peter has extensive knowledge in the collegiate process and will be able to answer any questions or concerns some families may have. We also hope to have some guest college coaches present from various schools and divisions to talk about the differences between NAIA, division 1, 2 and 3 and some information on financial aid. Golf Tournament Reminder: Monday April 19th Providence Country Club
I wanted to give everyone a 2nd reminder on our 1st annual golf tournament. The date and location are now locked in. It will be Monday April 19th at Providence Country Club with a 12 noon shot gun start. More details on signing up for the event will be distributed in the next week. We are now looking for sponsors and volunteers to help us run this event. Money raised will go towards our endowment fund for scholarships. If you are on any type of scholarship, you are expected to give back to the club at one of our events throughout the season. MLS in Charlotte: Eagles v Revolution
You may have already heard that the Charlotte Eagles will host the New England Revolution from the MLS next weekend at UNC Charlotte. All CSA players and Coaches are invited to meet players and head coach Steve Nicol prior to the game. Details on this great opportunity are on the main page of our website.
NSCAA State Diploma Rescheduled
The NSCAA State Diploma Scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for later in the spring. We will post the revised date next weekend. If you have signed up we will hold your application for the new date. If the new date does not work for you, we will refund your application fee. Pleas call the office and ask for Ken if you have questions.
US Development Academy Update
The US Academy is the newest initiative set up by US Soccer to identify the top players in the country and play them together in a formalized league structure. CSA was one of the first 64 clubs in the country (1 of 4 in NC) to be a part of this new league at the U16 and U18 boys level. We now enter our 3rd year in the program and the progression of youth soccer under this new system has been incredible. The league now consists of over 70 clubs and the quality of play throughout the country has been extremely high. This venue has placed our elite players on the map to get some extensive college exposure.
Our teams had back to back games last weekend vs. the two Richmond clubs. On Saturday, the U14 pre academy played Richmond Strikers and tied 0-0. The U16 and U18 teams played the Richmond Kickers on Saturday and got two great results, 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. On Sunday, the U16’s and U18’s played host to the Richmond Strikers. The U16 lost a tight game 3-1 and the U18’s tied 1-1.
The CSA US Soccer Development Academy teams continue their Atlantic Division schedule this Sunday playing against McLean Youth Soccer. Game times and locations are as follows:
9am U16 CSA vs. McLean Youth soccer (Davie Park)
11am U18 CSA vs. McLean Youth soccer (Davie Park)
Communication. The key to a successful club. ALWAYS ON UPDATES.
This will be on all my updates. Good communication is the key to a successful club. All families in the club should have the accessibility to communicate with your team coach and DOC throughout the season. Our coaches are reminded to have periodic meetings through the season to keep families up to date on the progression of the team. Emails for the DOCs and me are on the website if you need to communicate with us. If you need to talk in person, we are in the office each day and if you do not reach us directly, we will return a call in a timely fashion to address any questions or concerns. We have a fantastic full time staff here at CSA and some great team coaches. If you have any issues with your team, club etc please do not allow a problem to persist. Communicate with the staff so we can deal with it and move on in a positive way.
