REVISED THURSDAY 830PM
To all teams, players and participants of Charlotte Soccer Academy’s Adidas Cup Preseason Invitational 2010,
On behalf of Charlotte Soccer Academy we want to thank you for committing your team to our 1st preseason Adidas Cup competition. With over 190 applicants, we are very excited about the future of this tournament as we prepare teams for the spring season.
As you are all aware Charlotte has experienced some intense wintery weather this past week with sleet, snow, and heavy rainfall. Our tournament committee and executive board have been keeping a close look on the current weather and weather to come within the next few days.
We have had two good days of weather yesterday and today which has helped the grass fields, but talking with the local park coordinators the fields cannot get anymore rainfall between now and start of play on Saturday. Unfortunately Charlotte is to experience heavy rainfall throughout the day on Friday which would result in the grass fields being closed prior to Saturday’s event. We therefore have no choice but to cancel the U9-U10 and U13-U18 age groups for this weekend.
THIS EVENING WE HAVE RECEIVED A NEW WEATHER REPORT THAT MORE WINTERY WEATHER IS NOW FORECASTED FOR SATURDAY. WE THEREFORE FEEL EVEN WITH THE TURF FIELDS IT WILL BE AN UNSAFE ENVIRONEMNT FOR ANY TEAMS TO BE PLAYING SO WE CANCELLED ALL AGE GROUPS.
Our tournament rules state that we are not obligated to give refunds for cancellation of the tournament but due to us cancelling prior to the event kicking off, we were able to avoid some costs that would have been incurred if we tried to go ahead with the event. We, therefore, are able to refund a portion of our tournament entry fee back to each team. All U9-U10teams will each receive a $250 refund from the event and a $100 credit to any future Charlotte Soccer Academy tournament being hosted within the next 12 months. All U11-U12 teams will receive a $275 refund and a $100 credit and all U13-U18 teams will receive $300 refund and a $100 credit.
We appreciate your patience and we apologize that we have had to cancel. We wanted to wait as long as possible before making this decision hoping the weather would be generous to us. Unfortunately rainfall looks unavoidable on Friday and the grass fields just will not be able to take anymore.
On behalf of CSA we wish everyone the best for the spring 2010 season. A refund will be sent to your team contact and a coupon mailed.
Regards
Brad Wylde
