Dear
CSA Members,
I
hope everyone is doing well and surviving this crazy time we are all going
through over the past several weeks. Since my last correspondence, a lot of
information that has been shared with the club from our governing bodies, NCYSA
and USYS I wanted to send everyone an update on the upcoming plans to get us
restarted and back on the fields with our spring season.
From
the local, state and regional level, we received a letter from NCYSA this past
week announcing the extension of our spring season through June. The current plans
for our classic and premier level teams will be to start back by the middle to latter
part of May with permission to arrange games through the month of June. The state
governing bodies have allowed games to go into July, but CSA’s goal would be
to complete all league games in June as those would only count for
promotion/relegation.
Our
National level teams' game schedule and showcases have been cancelled for the
season. The teams, however, will still resume practices following the same
calendar as our NCYSA teams. The Elite and National staff directors will be
coordinating with other Academy/ECNL clubs to arrange games and potentially a
regional event during June to ensure they complete the spring season through
June.
Tryout
dates will begin in the middle of June and information regarding age groups,
dates and times will be announced later this week. Tryout registration will
open this next week and online tryout registration fees will be waived this
year. I encourage everyone to register for tryouts online. Information on
specific age groups, sections, teams, coaches etc. will also be available this
next week in the form of an online video that has been produced by each age
group or section Director. The Director
of Coaching (DOC) video will give you all the necessary information on their
section and team projections for the 2020-2021 season. We hope most questions
will be answered in the video presentation but for any additional questions
that come up, you are welcome to reach out directly to your DOC.
We
understand that even starting back late May, the season will be shorter knowing
tryouts will start a few weeks after the season resumes. We want to be fair and
equitable to our players and ensure that we give each player every opportunity
to progress internally within the club. We will also be using August as an
assessment period for our players. Once teams are formed during the June
tryouts, we will still use the month of August to be evaluating players through
preseason and there will still be opportunities to progress players upwards to
higher levels.
Next
week, the coaching structure for the 2020-2021 season will be announced. We are
excited about some new additions to our staff to compliment the coaches that
will be returning for the 2020-2021 season. CSA’s staff continue to solidify
the organization as one of the top clubs in the country by continuing to create
a platform of player development at all age groups.
This
has been a frustrating spring season, but we are confident and excited to
return to the field in the coming weeks and ensure we get as much of the season
completed as possible through the latter part of May into June. We appreciate
your support, your commitment and your loyalty to our organization. I want to
take this opportunity on behalf of everyone at the club to wish your families
the best during this time and we hope you continue to stay safe and keep practicing
social distancing. Ensure your sons and daughters continue the training and
session plans that have been sent weekly from your respective Directors so that
as soon as the suspension is lifted, they are ready to go again. If you have
any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your Director of
Coaching or our administrative staff. We wish everyone the best in the coming weeks,
and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.
Regards,
Brad Wylde
