RE: Covid-19 Guidelines Update
CSA Members,
We hope everyone is doing well during this difficult time. Over the past several weeks, North Carolina has seen a spike in positive Covid-19 cases. This recent spike has necessitated an update to our guidelines aimed at protecting the safety and well-being of our players and staff. We understand some may be struggling with pandemic fatigue; where we tend to become lenient on the simple guidelines that have been set by local authorities, NCYSA and the CDC. This leniency is causing some unrest in our soccer community, which is the reason for this letter. Moving forward, we will be enforcing the following guidelines for the rest of the fall season which will apply to all facilities during every practice and every game.
Please note the following adjustments to our current guidelines.
Players:
- All players must wear a face covering to and from the fields for practices and games. If a player does not arrive wearing a face covering, they will not be able to participate and will be asked to leave the field.
- All players, while on the sidelines during games, as either a substitute or an inactive player, must wear a face covering. If the player does not wear a face covering, they will be asked to leave the field.
- Players should not shake hands, fist bump, give high fives, etc. At the end of each game, our clubs policy moving forward will be for each team to simply clap their opponents off the field to show respect and good sportsmanship.
Spectators:
- All spectators must wear a face covering. If a spectator is not wearing a face covering, they will be asked to leave the fields. Referees and coaching staff will work together during games and have been instructed not to start games unless all spectators are wearing face coverings.
All CSA coaches have been informed of these adjustments and each will be requesting everyone to comply with these requirements. We ask that you respect and adhere to these guidelines and understand these guidelines are set not just by CSA, but by the governing bodies of our state and the CDC. New signage will be installed at all facilities. We ask that you please take this seriously as we want to end the season on a high note and get back to some normality as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your respective Director of Coaching or myself. Thank you for your support as we navigate this new environment together.
Regards,
Brad Wylde
Executive Director
