Charlotte Soccer Academy ECNL, NPL & DPL Program Structure

and Tryout Registration for 2022-2023

Charlotte Soccer Academy is pleased to announce program structures and the opening of tryout registration for our National and Regional programs for the 2022-2023 season.

Beginning today, eligible players can register for tryouts for the programs listed below. Registration for tryouts for all other programs will open by April 1.
• U13-U15 ECNL National Girls
• U13-U15 ECRL Regional Girls
• U13-U19 DPL Girls (New for 2022)
• U13-U19 ECNL National Academy Boys
• U13-U19 ECNL National Boys
• U13-U19 ECRL Regional Boys
• U13-U19 NPL Boys
• U11-U12 Pre-ECNL Boys

“We have made some productive changes in how we are structuring and expanding our National and Regional programs this year,” states Executive Director, Brad Wylde. “These adjustments have been made to continue the evolution of the club and offer more opportunities for National and Regional levels of play available to Charlotte Soccer Academy members. We are confident that these adjustments will continue to push the club forward in being one of the top full-service clubs in the country.”

One addition to CSA’s programs on the girl’s side this year is the Development Player League (DPL) that will be starting in our South Carolina branch to compliment the National Premier Leagues (NPL) for boys that began this past year. These programs have been designed predominantly for players that reside in South Carolina. The DPL and NPL programs will be overseen by Sectional Director of Coaching, Ralph Latchana, and Sheldon Russell.

The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) National platforms at CSA will have familiar faces associated with the programs. Brian Moore will continue his role as ECNL National Girls Director and Steve Gummer will continue his role as the ECNL National Academy Boys Director. Phil Hindson will continue his role as ECNL National Boys Director. Ben Cook will also continue his role as Director of Coaching for the Pre-ECNL boys and girls.

For the ECNL Regional League (ECRL) program, Director Steve Magee will continue to oversee the program with a primary focus on the South RL program. Directors of Coaching Matt Denton and Stephen Chaconas will oversee the operations of the North RL program.

Accompanying this information are the coaching assignments for next year. There are some coach assignments listed as TBD. These teams may have coaches who are currently working with another organization and/or with other teams in the club. For professional reasons, CSA will not announce those assignments until later this season while they fulfill their current club obligations. Please continue to check the coaches list as it will be frequently updated over the coming weeks with the goal to have all coaches announced by tryouts.

National and Regional program tryouts for age groups U13-U19 are by invitation only. Players that are on a current National or Regional team will receive an invitation. Additionally, King level girls on CSA’s SC teams will receive an invitation for the DPL tryouts. Players on USYS teams interested in being considered for one of the programs should contact either their current Director of Coaching or the Program Director to confirm whether they would be a candidate for one of these teams. Players currently registered outside of CSA should connect directly with the Program Director and submit a soccer resume of their current level and playing experience for consideration. Please note, due to ECNL recruiting rules, CSA staff cannot assess or communicate with ECNL players currently playing with another club until May 1st.

For complete tryout information, please visit the 2022 Tryouts section of our website.

The 2022-23 CSA ECNL, NPL and DPL Director of Coaching structure diagrams and coaching assignments accompany this press release. The 2022-23 club structure will be in effect beginning August 1st, 2022. Questions regarding tryout registration or programs should be directed to the Director of Coaching for the respective program.
