CSA Mourns the Passing of John Koslick

John Koslick

November 17, 1950 – April 9, 2022

It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that CSA announces the passing of former Board President and one of the Founders of the Charlotte Soccer Academy, John Koslick. John has been battling cancer for the past 18 months and that battle finally came to an end this past Saturday evening.  John was 71 years old.

For those of you who didn’t know John, he was a man who had a passion for soccer and for Charlotte Soccer Academy. He would spend countless hours of volunteer time in and around the club. He would do anything and everything for anyone to help, wherever it was needed. John helped start the club over 25 years ago as SCSA and was a major contributing factor to the 2008 merger with Charlotte Soccer Club to become Charlotte Soccer Academy. He continued his work behind the scenes with the additional three mergers and was instrumental in the 2015 construction of CSA’s headquarters, the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex.  The club sits as one of the largest, most successful full-service clubs in the country and it would not be where it is today without John’s guidance and service. John symbolizes the characteristics of what the club strives to represent in the Charlotte community. Someone who was caring, humble, wise and would always put the player and family first before his own self interests.

Following his retirement from the CSA Board of Directors, John continued his volunteer work for the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association as the Association’s treasurer for several years. Additionally, many weekends you would see John out at the fields watching games or spending time volunteering for a tournament or State Cup.  His commitment to the game of soccer, NCYSA and CSA were second to none and his dry wit and polite directness will be greatly missed.

John leaves his loving wife of 49 years Gayle, and children Meredith and son-in-law Chris, Megan and son-in-law Wojtek, Alex and future daughter-in-law Sarah along with grandchildren Luke, twins Grant and Abby, Klaudia, and Roksana.

The CSA Board of Directors along with John’s family are planning a Celebration of Life at the CSA Headquarters in Pineville in the coming weeks. Various options are being discussed to memorialize John’s contribution to Charlotte Soccer Academy. Information will be forthcoming for those interested in attending this special event. John touched many lives of the current staff here and I am sure you will reflect on the ways he affected your own personal journey here at CSA. It is with a sense of inner peace that we say good-bye to John. Rest in Peace John, you were loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
