McCabe Headed to ECNL National Camp!

Congratulations to Mary Elliott McCabe of our U17 ECNL team on her selection to the ECNL National Training Camp powered by ECNL/id2!

The ECNL/id2 National Camp is held annually and has become the most elite girls identification event in the country. Approximately 90 of the nation’s top female youth soccer players are invited for one weekend to participate in training and competition before US Soccer National Team staff. During the camp, the players have the opportunity to compete in front of top colleges from around the nation, are trained by some of the top youth coaches in the country, and learn from a series of off-field presentations from experts and former national team coaches and players. The players are identified through the ECNL Player Development Program which holds regional ID camps across the county throughout the spring.

2016 ECNL Playoffs

After months of grueling competition, the qualifiers for the 2016 ECNL Post-Season were determined. On June 9th, each of the qualifying teams learned their opponents for the 2016 ECNL National Play-Offs in Oceanside, CA. Every team lucky enough to qualify for ECNL Play-Offs in Oceanside was competing for a championship or the chance to advance to the ECNL Finals depending on their age group.  At the U14 and U18 age groups, the ECNL Champions League National Champions were crowned in Oceanside. At the U15, U16, and U17 age groups, qualifying teams competed in three divisions, the ECNL Champions League, ECNL North American Cup, or the ECNL Showcase Cup.

Both Charlotte SA ECNL U15 & U16 teams experienced a wonderful run at National Playoffs in San Diego in the Showcase Cup. Our U15s made it through to the semifinals only to be stopped by a FC Delco team 0-1. Our U16s made it all the way to the Championship game but fell short, losing 0-1 SLSG from MO. The ECNL Staff are extremely proud of our girls commitment, desire and togetherness.  It was a strong finish to a very long year.  We look ahead now to the changes for next year with our Charlotte SA ECNL Birth Year Teams.

Said Dan Dudley ECNL Director, “Our ultimate goal was to return to Charlotte with a Championship.  Both teams came very, very close. It was a great experience for both groups and some truly respectable results in the grand scheme of things.  With the large attendance of College Coaches and National Scouts, we hope our Charlotte SA Girls have left a positive impression."
