16U-19U Girls Club Structure and Coaching Assignments for 2023-2024 Season
Club Structure and Programming Highlights Updated

Charlotte Soccer Academy is pleased to release the 16U-19U girls club structure and club coaching assignments for the 2023-2024 season.

We are very excited about our program opportunities for our older girls and introduce a new infrastructure for the 2023-2024 season. We have made some productive changes in how we are structuring the club this year. These adjustments have been made to continue the evolution of the club and offer more opportunities for every level of play under the youth soccer structure here in the United States. The ECNL National and Regional leagues combined with the new DPL league for teams in South Carolina complimenting the USYS youth soccer model has been a success for CSA this past year. We are excited about adding the Elite 64 National platform centered at our Uptown and Matthews sections for 2023 and are confident that the additional league opportunities will continue to push the club forward in being one of the top full-service clubs in the country.

Highlights of our structure include our continued presence in the ECNL, where we were one of the founding members when it began in 2009. The league now stands alone as the top program in the country for girls youth soccer. Brian Moore will continue his role as the Director of the ECNL National program. Since Coach Moore joined the program in 2019, the team and individual player successes have moved into a new level. In 2021, CSA as a program in ECNL was ranked 8th nationally with league and individual successes across multiple age groups within the program. More players have gained national exposure along with positive team results which has positioned CSA into one of the leaders in girls’ soccer across the country.

Steve Magee will continue to direct and oversee our teams in the ECNL Regional League which compete in the Carolinas division. This program was initially created in 2020 to gain more opportunities to advance the development for more players within its league format. Over the past three seasons, CSA has had incredible success across all age groups with CSA finishing at least the top of an age division in three age groups every year since inception. In 2021, CSA stood apart from others, finishing top in EVERY division, losing only two games collectively over five age groups. With this success comes more individual player opportunities to advance to the national level due to the continued player development curriculum that has been implemented.

The Regional League will have a presence across all sections with teams predominantly playing in the South and North/Huntersville sections of the club. DOC Matt Denton and Andrew Steedman will assist Coach Magee on the North/Huntersville side.

In 2022, CSA gained an opportunity to extend a national platform into South Carolina for our York County and Palisades teams. CSA is a proud of member of the DPL (Development Player League) with teams 13U – 19U competing in the Southeast Division. Sheldon Russell and Ralph Latchana will continue to direct the program for the 2023-2024 season.

To compliment the ECNL, ECRL and DPL programs, CSA will progress its Elite 64 program to our Uptown and Matthews branches for next season. The Elite 64 program began its inaugural season this past year with the top 64 clubs playing under the USYS structure competing in eight team conferences across the country. CSA started the program as an add on for players year one, but due to more high-level organizations entering the league, CSA has decided to center it at our Uptown and Matthews branches offering additional exposure for players in these locations wanting top level soccer. Catey Stewart will continue her role as the Elite 64 DOC for the 2023-2024 season.

CSA will also continue to provide playing opportunities within North Carolina in all sections of the organization playing under USYS (United States Youth Soccer). 16U-19U teams will be formed at the Premier and Classic levels in Charlotte, Matthews/Mint Hill, Uptown, and our North/Huntersville locations.

Some familiar faces return to our USYS section. In our South program, Raymond Fraser will continue to oversee this program being the largest section in our club with support from DOC, Tyler Andrus, who will directly run the 16U-19U boys and girls. Coach Fraser and Coach Andrus bring a fantastic combination of experience, leadership, and professionalism to their programs as the South (Charlotte) sections continue to grow and prosper.

In our North/Huntersville programs, Matt Denton will continue to manage and run this section. Since joining CSA eleven years ago, Matt has been instrumental in offering all levels of play for our players in the Concord/Cabarrus and Huntersville area.

Our Matthews/Mint Hill branch will continue to expand our footprint within Union County. Andy Guevara will continue as the sectional director entering his 10th year with CSA. His loyalty and professionalism within the program help set CSA apart as the leader in youth soccer in Union County.

CSA Uptown has progressed tremendously over the past four years offering more levels of play for families residing in the Uptown area. Dan Dudley will continue his role leading this section with Catey Stewart heading up our girls’ program as the DOC. Coach Dudley has been with CSA since inception and has been a key part of the overall success of the organization. Coach Stewart brings a wealth of experience to the section as we grow the membership in Dilworth, Myers Park, and the Uptown areas of Charlotte.

Our new CSA Director of Coaching infrastructure for girls accompanies this press release. The new club structure will be in effect as of August 1, 2023. The current DOC structure will stay in effect through the end of our spring season. The transition to the new structure will be in place during our first week of the season at our pre-season camp in August. Coaching assignments for the older girls’ teams is linked below. We encourage you to check back to the website prior to tryouts as updates will be made periodically.
